I don’t see how Galleries N and S are identical. South is overcrowded but actually a decent space otherwise. North is a terrible space, and smaller so often full not just over crowded.

I would not compare 5B to United at all.
There's a fundamental difference to how the lounges are used though. Most of the traffic in these lounges will be European on short connections where as a comparative to Shorthaul lounges BA stacks up well.

If you want a comparator for UA probably best is T3 with CX - makes a great dirty martini paired with noodles - or Qantas or the VS Clubhouse.

The question here is whether BA should have a JFK style lounge for longhaul passengers at LHR separate from the Shorthaul offering. To me the answer is no based on the JFK setup being based on the timing of the flight and maximising sleep on onboard.

Am sure there will be refurbishments in time, but it's also worth remembering how well the LHR offering compares to Admiral's Clubs, where you have to pay for the good stuff. I would be happy if BA copied some of the AS lounge concepts IE draft beer and Barista coffee.
