Perhaps BA needs to limit access, similar to how AA does for most USA domestic flights. Even if I buy a premium cabin, I generally won't get lounge access domestically in the USA, unless I buy it (membership or daypass), or am connecting for travel outside of the US (there are a few exceptions where I will).
Delta does the same, and yet I see a lot of discussion about long lines outside Skyclubs.
I don't understand why the suggested solution is almost always to cut access.
