3 nights is better than nothing however it will go by so quickly!! Spend your morning at breakfast and half the day is gone, then time to enjoy your villa or by the beach/pool for the other half - and the day is gone. For three nights, I would go to happy hour once as it takes a good part of your afternoon. Do enjoy and I would not bother with a paid upgrade to an OWV. The Reef Villas are half OWV anyway, minus the glass panel in the walk-thru wardrobe.

I'm headed there next month for 6 days. I'll be there as a solo traveler - my wife hates jet lag, gets less vacation time than I do, and the Maldives has been on my bucket list forever, so I'm venturing there on my own ....
Persuade your wife now and get her to go!! The resort hard product is sensational and the service, extremely lovely.
Each villas have specific floats for water activities/snorkeling so they are designed to help you float properly ie. allow you to face down. The life saving floats which are on boats / planes etc are designed to keep your head out of the water and are not very efficient when it comes to snorkelling, that is why, some people like to use 'noodles' which go over your chest and under your armpits.
Just go alone to the restaurant, assuming you have not persuaded your wife not to go. If you do IVD, then I suggest do it while there is daylight as afterwards, it feels pretty dark and not much scenery other than colours off your private pool.
