I've requested an upgrade via 500 milers, but it hasn't cleared yet, which makes me nervous since it should have cleared by now, 1k (upgrade page says waitlisted). I guess I'll just sit in the aisle.
16C does exist, I happened to wind up in 16D (middle thanks to a missed connection from LAX) on this exact flight on Sunday. However, I do know that there were a bunch of 1Ks, 1Ps, 2Ps (including myself), who wound up in coach because upgrades didn't go through. The row is fine, nothing to special but I think it had more room than the middle section in row 15(bulkhead). I glanced at the manifest and everyone in C was at least 1P.

FYI- If you can, try to find a flight attendant who will let you move to row 13 or 14 (crew rest seats). I was allowed up there after we took off on Sunday and it was very nice. While they are coach seats, they do have footrests, unlimited legroom (row 13), and cookies from C class desert. I don't believe they will assign these to you at the gate. It made for a very nice quiet flight.

Not to get off topic, but I also thought it was nice that there were 1-2 empty seats in F and most of them up there were NSR. I waited to the last minute to get a different seat (non middle) and the gate agent handed me 16D, apologized and said he had nothing else. This all taking place as an FA came up and asked if there were any seats. "Sure!" says the gate agent and handed her 1C...
