Does your itinerary include a connection, and if so are you looking at the entire route on EF (not just segment-by-segment)? Does your itinerary include both Delta and KLM flights (where EF doesn't clearly show the necessary information to confirm availability)?
The fact that the agent saw the return space suggests it's not just a clueless agent problem. IIRC there were some reports of possible phantom space (or some other disconnect between EF and Delta) when KLM flights show exactly Z2?
