Well, I guess that's the question I'm trying to ascertain. My previous understanding is that credit can be done by segment as the previous poster showed (and the Missing Miles thread in this forum seems to discuss this quite a bit). I suppose the distinction is whether that allocation to FFP is done pre or post travel? Though as the Missing Miles AA thread shows, even if you have a FFP showing on the boarding pass, it could get credited to another program.

Has anyone successfully gotten AA credit for a flight where the ticket/BP shows another program but the segment didn't actually earn miles to that program?
