They won’t if the cabin is already full .. But, there’s a strong chance that Business will sell out even before upgrades may be considered. At that time you’re competing with staff travel as well as those who start their holidays after Xmas and New Year. Bad time to hope for empty seats.
Surely (discretionary) staff travel doesn't take precedence over revenue fares and upgrades?
