My payments to Visa made through paying "E-Bills" on my CIBC account show up immediately on my online Visa statement as "Payments to be processed". They then take 2+ days to be actually posted.
Those VISA cheques are FANTASTIC as long as you prepay the total balance including charges and cheques until your next statement date else you have to pay interest on the cheque amount. Conceivably depending on the date you deposit this could be 19.6% divided by 12 = 1.63% = $163 in one month on $10,000 of cheques.
I pay $10,000 to Visa out of my line of credit first and then deposit the cheques into my line of credit. No LOC charge if done on the same day either.
I scrounge those cheques too asking coworkers and friends. I have raked up 30,000 points this year on them. I have received them two months in a row - September and October 2004. My wife usually gets a batch in April.
I too will take any cheques if you dont use them
