Domestically I use a backpacking utility sack with a carabiner as a "flight bag" - it's just big enough for headphones, cables, the 2 pronger, and the water bottle & snacks that somehow fall into it during the flight. I clip it to my messenger bag before boarding and just hang it on the seatback soon as I sit down.

over ear headphones somehow take up an amazing amount of carty on space
