Are you speaking of “here” as Indonesia? I don’t know of any standard hotel employee in Indonesia that would make what anyone would consider a good wage in most western countries.

The minimum wage in Jakarta is a bit over $200 a month, which is what many hotel staff make as a salary. I know many hotel workers were laid off during the pandemic, and things have only gotten back to normal this year.

The hotels we’ve been to since May have had about 50% new staff, from our visits in 2020.
