The space under the seat in front of me is mine.

Similarly, the space under my seat belongs to the occupant of the seat behind me.

Friday on a UAL 777, I was seated behind the occupant of an exit row. The exit row seat also was a bulkhead seat, and the bulkhead was a whopping 6-7' away from that seat. There was no 'under seat stowage' for that row, as is the case with bulkhead seating.

The occupant of the bulkhead exit row had placed her bag under her seat, thus limiting ability to use the space for either my own storage, or for my feet. (So there was a bag under that seat, but the bag was not mine).

I asked her to move it, she ignored me. A flight attendant came by, he spotted this and asked her to move the bag to an overhead compartment. She ignored him as well. I summoned another FA and she was able to get that seat's occupant to move her bag.

Am I correct in understanding that the space under the seat in front of me belongs to me? One would think that the metal frame that's up at the front of the seat would prohibit this....
