A long shot to ask, but does anyone know if the
Fairfield Inn Washington, DC/New York Avenue is ever going to open again?
It closed during the pandemic and I read somewhere that the property had been repurposed to provide shelter for people without housing during those times. The property is still listed on the Marriott site, but there has been a rolling pattern of bookings showing it as "not available" for the next couple months and then at a preposterous / don't-book-this-property rate (~$500 / night) for all dates after that.
While it's not in the best part of the city, it was the best hotel in walking distance to a nearby music venue and thus before Covid I'd stay there a number of times each year. It was always a fine stay too -- one of the better Fairfield Inns and with great, friendly staff.
