Does SAS protect on separate bookings although both on SAS?

I have a trip next year where the TATL leg is LAX-CPH. I then need to get to KEF and it appears there's an option with two hours from the arrival at CPH to the departure to KEF (actually a connection via OSL).
If I book the CPH-OSL-KEF ticket separately, is there any protection by SAS if the inbound SAS flight from LAX is delayed? They're separate tickets, but both on SAS. Just trying to gauge my risk.
