There is a drawback in checking all bags in under 1 passenger. If 3 passengers' bags are checked in separately , then BA is liable for delay/loss of baggage to each of the 3 passengers ; if a person checks it all in as their own, then BA is only liable to that passenger. Normally not going to be an issue, but could impact if luggage was lost/delayed
