As for your question, forwards/backwards is much less important than the overall position. I would avoid 1D/G because they look straight into the galley and you'll be watching the carts and lav traffic throughout the flight.
Just remember, unlike all other UA J configuconfigurations, 1AB do NOT have the larger footwell. It's tapered and restricts movement.
