Both times I stayed there I got a fruit bowl amenity with some amazing mangos but aside from the breakfast (which I agree, was quite tasty) that was it. Are you after something specific? There’s nothing special in the neighborhood but it’s interesting to walk around. Ate at a pretty good restaurant but it was definitely geared to locals vs catering to tourists.

Like you said, the convenience (and slightly cheaper price) are the big draws. It’s technically walkable from Sentral but not very straight forward, but just 1 stop on the LRT via bridge. GH has the lounge and, most likely, a view of the towers. Really depends on what your priorities and goals are. I’ve enjoyed my stays at both hotels but KL is one of my favorite places so I’m probably biased. If arriving late at night I’d stay at least one night at the Alila just to get to sleep 30 mins earlier.
