I would recommend that hardside luggage be purchased with durable wheels to eliminate any weather exposure to the contents of your luggage when the luggage is being offloaded from the plane upon arrival. If rain pours and if there is a ground stop due to bad weather, your luggage is exposed to the elements if you have softside luggage. Additionally, when your check-in luggage is being managed by Airline personnel, their lift points for your luggage will always be the wheels and top portion of your luggage so the wheels better be durable otherwise, you will be missing one or two upon retrieval of your luggage at the baggage claim area.
