If I were you, I would book via the AF website. Just before the payment (which you know is going to fail), I would note the PNR which has been created (it should anyhow appear in your FB profile in your bookings) .
Call the Platinum line right after, quote the booking reference and pay over the phone (no charge for this service as it is an error from the website).
Exactly that, I've had to do it on multiple occasions due to website mishaps, takes around 10 minutes including the waiting times to get the ticket issued, I wouldn't waste time on asking the agent why it didn't work on the website...
