Odd experience at a NorCal Walmart today. The CSRs here are wary so I always do just one swipe. Today, it was BAU for: confirm amount, swipe a SSV, enter PIN, see APPROVED message, MO prints out... then the CSR held onto the MO while they looked at the screen for a couple of moments and then told me they needed my ID. I gave it to them and they entered the info, then told me I'd be prompted to confirm the amount of the MO again, which I did. Then the receipt printed out and they handed me it and the MO.

Some kind of weird system glitch? Or are they flagging suspicious transactions based on amount, a card being swiped vs. inserted, card BIN, and/or...? It sticks out to me that it didn't prompt for ID until AFTER the MO printed, but before the receipt printed, which implies to me that whatever triggered it was on the WU side, as I'd think WM would have caught it earlier in the process.

I plan to try again with an SSV at a different store and with a "real" debit card at this store but I don't know how long it'll be before I can.
