I'm just here to vent about AA's IT.
In January I canceled a flight and therefore had a flight credit in the bank.
Last month I booked a flight via AA.com and while booking I selected a Main Cabin Extra seat. But when I went to pay the website would not let me use the flight credit.
So I called and the agent told me there is no Main Cabin Extra on that flight (A321T). I said, according to the website, there is. The agent said she would process the flight credit and I gave her my credit card for the difference. I was not charged for the Main Cabin Extra upgrade but allowed to keep my seat assignment.
A few weeks later I decided to upgrade to Business Class via the website. That went OK.
Today I go on the AA app on my phone to check in and it offers me a First Class upgrade for a reasonable price, so I take it. Then the app pops-up "server error."
I get an alert from the bank that my CC has been charged but AA still shows me in Business Class.
I call AA and get transferred to the IT folks. For an hour they can't seem to figure out what happened. They see the fee was charged but the upgrade is not showing in the system. Finally they just decided to refund the upgrade fee and get me off the phone.
Last thing the agent told me: "In the future, if you want to upgrade, use the website or do it at the airport, but don't use the app."
I've had issues that when I try to upgrade in the app when I get to the checkout screen I get a processing error. However, if I use the desk top version (which also will show the upgrade offer) no problems.
