We got a gift certificate for Meez Meals. Hadn't heard of it before, but of course we're giving it a try since we can get a few for free. Based in Chicago, but says they deliver anywhere. We've never tried any meal kit previously. From what I understand the difference, some you have to order multiple meals or subscribe. For this, you can order whatever you want, whenever you want. Weekly. Heavy focus on vegetables, but generally well-rounded menus to choose from each week. Our first order comes on Monday -- steak, 2 sides, and dessert for 2 for $40. I'm sure the portions are smaller, but that seems cheaper than some of the others, yes?
Interestingly, since we have to cook it anyway, I'm not sure I understand the draw to these kits. I could have bought 2 steaks and the sides myself for probably $25, assuming the portion size is a 5 oz steak, and I wouldn't have any unused ingredients (we have a full herb/spice shelf). For dessert, we ordered the carrot cake (already made), which definitely would have been a hassle to bake and would have had leftovers. But that's not different than buying a couple slices from the grocery store bakery either. Seems like I'm saving neither time nor money really, but I guess I'm getting their recipe.
Anyway, just some random thoughts as I looked over their site this week. I'll try to remember to come back and leave a review on the quality.
