It shouldn't, though, if I recall, there is likely language in the T&C that stipulates when transactions made via third party apps may not earn bonuses. For that it's worth, my promos have always been triggered when using Apple Pay.

Not an Amex benefit per se, but it could be connected, e.g., the current Amex promo of using it 5 times for a $15(?) credit. Apple Pay is just a payment processor for the iPhone, not unlike, say, the NFC wallet for an Android.
