Given that the OP seems to be extremely flexible, I wouldn't be quite so pessimistic. Furthermore, her credit card points can theoretically snag seats on AA, BA, B6, DL (plus AF/KL), AC, LH, UA.... I'd be looking for 2 or 3 seats (one direction at a time) on any of those. Then, you're only looking at 2 + 3 or 2 + 2 + cash. I'd also be looking at day flights on the westbound, even if this requires spending a night in BOS, NYC, or WAS because economy is easier to handle (for me) when sleep isn't a priority.
