I would make sure to board early with F and definitely no later than C+/Sky. The challenge with 1C and 1D is you don't have underseat storage.

The bins in F are shallow on the "A" side so depending on the size of your backpack they won't necessarily fit which means you need to be boarding with F so at a minimum you either get space in F right above you or at the worst you end up with your bags at the front of C+.

I have been late to board on CR9/E175s a few times this year (been cutting it a bit too close with when I leave my house) and I've been forced to gate check my bags a couple of times as a result because there was no space left in the overheads
