Ordinarily, cancelling would have got you nothing (or very little) back as a refund, so perhaps you're coming at this from a 'glass half empty' viewpoint?
Well, when travel was basically illegal you would expect a refund and flexibility.
I think that when a customer shows goodwill and accepts a voucher to basically ensure a company doesn't go bust there should be maximum flexibility in how the voucher can then be used. Unfortunately for BA I have the time, resources and wherewithal to take them through the small claims court if necessary.
