I have spent 4 weeks in Singapore this year in three different hotels, the Westin, the Marriott Tang Plaza and the JW Marriott so I thought I would share experiences and thoughts.

TLDR: All are excellent, choice probably comes down to location and whatever their room rates are at time of visit.

Preamble... I am Titanium and all nights were redemption (points and/or 7-night travel package and/or free night certs).

Westin... February, entry to Singapore under VTL rules. The city and hotels were not fully reopened. I used all my SNA and was upgraded to an excellent and large corner room. Fantastic view, great bathroom with separate shower and tub and views. The exec lounge had not reopened and in its place we received a $100 daily F&B credit which I thought was generous. The pool area and fitness center were good and quiet. Location is ideal if you are visiting for business, close to central business district, but not ideal for tourists as there are not a lot of shops/restaurants near by so you will be riding the MRT a lot -- which will improve when the new Thomson East Coast line opens later this year.

Marriott Tang Plaza... September, Singapore has almost returned to its normal state excepting notable absence of China/Japan visitors. The hotel felt that it was as busy as ever... and the ever presence of flower covered wedding cars out front suggests a lot of young couples catching up from a two-year pause! Was upgraded to an executive floor room which was no larger than normal and I'm not sure if there were additional amenities or not. But the room did feel like it was recently refurbished. I can understand previous comments about low water pressure but I wonder if this is because building codes are enforcing use of low-flow fixtures? I did not find the flow rate to be a problem and never had an issue with water temperature. The highlight of the Tang Plaza is the M Club lounge staff. They are simply outstanding, by day 2 we were greeted by name every time we entered, and not just by one staff member but it felt like every one of them had memorized our name. Reasonable selection of food and drink. The M Club is only open afternoon/evening... breakfast is served in the Crossroads restaurant next to the lobby. Full buffet service has returned and it was excellent. But take care where you sit... too close to the exterior windows/doors and it gets very humid -- by the end of our visit we were asking to sit closer to the main lobby as it was cooler there. Tang Plaza location is ideal for tourists, less appropriate for business trips. There are many many shops and restaurants nearby ranging from very expensive and exclusive luxury brands to historic shopping for the locals (aka Lucky Plaza).

JW Marriott... Formula 1 weekend. We moved here because... why not be in the middle of all the action! In the past I have stayed here and had tickets to the F1 but this year I did not bother with tickets because the JW has a 6th-floor pool deck/terrace that looks over Turn 7 of the track. And that turned out to be a wise move given the weather conditions this year. The 18th floor pool deck area was closed for private functions, but the 6th floor was open to hotel guests. We were upgraded to a deluxe room and while no larger than the Tang Plaza rooms, it did feels more upmarket. The bathroom in particular is better with separate tub, shower and toilet stall. The mini-bar was stocked whereas the Tang Plaza had an empty fridge. The breakfast buffet selection is superior to the Tang Plaza and the executive lounge is open all day with breakfast and afternoon tea service which the Tang Plaza did not have in its lounge. Evening food selection feels to have more options too. The staff in the lounge were great, but it did not feel nearly as personal as the Tang Plaza. The JW location is good for both tourists and business visitors. It is connected to a vast network of underground linkway that connect to multiple shopping malls and MRT stations, you can walk for miles without risking getting wet in a rain shower.

So there you have it. It really comes down to personal choice. My favorite is probably the JW but I am very happy in either of the others... for future trips I think it will really come down to room rate whether points or cash with a bias in favor of either Marriott over the Westin purely based on location.
