I use a Pacsafe purse which has a 2 handed step to open the zipper of the main compartment. I feel better with this. I have had 3 attempts at pickpocketing in Paris and one in Venice. My experiences were that they worked in teams and used distraction as a ploy. It does exist but I have travelled to Paris numerous times. I know I can be distracted Easily so the Pacsafe purse helps with that. I also have a Scottevest hoodie with numerous pockets that I travel with. I can keep things in pockets that open next to my body, not on the outside. On travel days, after going through security, I use a money neck pocket, I use it cross body. That is what works for me.
