For AA (my main carrier) I always had plenty of opportunities to use the credits. I remember a cancellation would yield credit in the ticket number, name-locked to original passenger. But then I thought when that credit was used only in part, AA would send a paper voucher which was usable for anyone (no longer name-locked). No? If I could do this for Delta, that would work GREAT for me -- hoping there is a way...
I've used credits on (with leftover $) both and in fact currently have credits currently on both. DL most definitely doesn't offer a way around this. AA as long I've traveled with them as never either (unless im not aware of work around on AA).
