Status in which program?

If crediting to UA, all that changes is you get a separate, additional PQP credit for the upgrade fee (no award miles).

If crediting to another program with distance-based earning, it's more of a gamble: they may treat it as O/A/R (whichever one shows after purchasing), or they may treat it as your original fare class. Best to check with the forum for whichever other programme to see if anyone reports relevant experiences.
