Fairmont Taghazout Bay
Introduction The Fairmont Taghazout Bay opened in 2021 and is at the time of this review just over a year old. It features 146 rooms, suites and villas overlooking the Atlantic ocean. While initially interested in a stay at the Sofitel in Agadir I stumbled upon this hotel. We booked a 3 night stay with a very good 3 for 2 nights Visa offer on Accor. Location The hotel is located right on the beach in Taghazout, which is a 30min drive from the city of Agadir and an hours drive from the airport of Agadir (AGA). From the hotel you can walk along the beach to the old fishing village of Taghazout in around 30 min. Along the beach of Taghazout there are various other large five-star hotels. There is a Hilton under construction on one side of the hotel and a Marriott under construction on the other side of the hotel. Check In Before our arrival I had arranged transportation from Agadir Airport via the hotels concierge service. It cost 500 MAD each way and we were picked up at the airport on a very nice Range Rover. Once we entered the lobby we were greeted by the receptionist who was expecting us. We sat down in a sofa and were offered a refreshing welcome drink while we checked in. Check in was fast and smooth. We were the driven in a golf cart to our room by the receptionist, stoping along the way while he explained the various hotel facilities. Once in our room I was thanked for my loyalty to ALL and handed over the drinks voucher, which could be used for wine, beer, soft drinks and cocktails anywhere in the hotel. Room Our room was a Deluxe Ocean View King, the highest room category apart from suites and villas. The room was very nice and it felt brand new. It was clean, bright and had a very comfortable bed. The room was also very well stocked in terms of amenities. There was a gorgeous scent throughout the room which never faded away, yet was never too strong. Welcome amenity.Coffee machine and kettel.Safe.Ice bucket.Shoe horn, brush and shoe mitten. Ironing board.Very good lighting controls. Do not disturb and turndown buttons. The terrace and the views were beautiful, specially so during sunset. There were 2 turndown services per day. A regular one during the day, where the bed was made, water restocked and towels changed. And a second one around dinner time, where the bed was prepared for sleeping, slipper nicely placed besides the bed, nightlife’s turned on and water bottles placed beside the bed. The attention to detail by the maids was very appreciated, excellent turndown service. Bathroom The bathroom was clean and spacious, featuring a very big rain-head shower and a gorgeous bathtub. The fairmont branded amenities had a lovely scent of neroli. The bathroom also had a heated floor. Hair dryer Pool There were 2 main pools, the family pool infront of the beach and the adults only pool in the back. The family pool: The adults only pool:As soon as you approached a sunbed, a lifeguard would approach and make the sunbed for you and provide towels. They were always there, straight away and with a smile. The surroundings and the general vibe of the adults pool was lovely. It felt like an oasis. Jacuzzi. Beach There are various access points to the private beach.Club sandwich and a wrap from the beach/pool menu. There are surfboards for rent and surf lessons available.Bikes are also available to ride along the promenade. It was rolled out on a trolley in a big paella pan, served and presented at the table. It was very good. The hotels star restaurant Morimoto, a fine dining sushi restaurant.Located below the reception.Excellent sushi. The tuna melted on your tongue. The Commons which is where breakfast is served. Breakfast Breakfast was buffet style although the waiters were happy to bring us anything we wanted to our table. Drinks were ordered at the table. Bars There are 2 main bars at the hotel.Nola:Nola is a cigar bar with live music at night. Junipers:Junipers is an outdoor bar which aims to eventually only use ingredients from the hotels gardens.Beautiful ambiance at night. Our welcome drinks. Spa The hotel features a 1,200 square meter spa. The spa is diveded in to a mens and a womens wing.Magnesium pool.Couples hammam room. There is also a yoga room and a beauty salon in the spa building. Gym The gym is located inside the spa building and is free for guests. Service I was initially sceptical about the service after having read very mixed reviews online, some outright calling the service horrible. I am glad to report that we had excellent service throughout our stay. We did not have a single complain about service. As my name was on the booking, I was greeted by name everywhere I went, even by staff I had yet to encounter. There were certainly some of the staff who were new and hadn’t finished training, but they were always smiling and doing there best. Overall Overall we had an amazing stay at the Fairmont Taghazout Bay. Excellent service, excellent facilities, excellent food, and a beautiful resort in general. The only negative I can think of would be the food and beverage prices, they are quite high.
