Had a great stay for 5 nights in September. Two couples (one Titanium, one Plat). All were given free breakfast buffet, which was good quality. Good hard product - the rooms were small (neither couple's SNA's cleared) but modern, clean and in great shape. The staff was excellent - from the front desk to the Breakfast & Bar folks, to the friendly housekeepers. Front desk recommended dinner reservations - although we usually like to choose places and dine on our own, we took them up on their offer and made reservations most nights. That was a good call - restaurants filled up pretty quickly every night.

Earlier poster asked about day trips - we booked a day with Sara from Tuscany Tours (https://tuscany-tours.com) and visited a couple of wineries, Montecarlo (a hilltop town) and lunch. It was a bit of a splurge but worth it for us.

The town itself was busy, but we never had the feeling that it was completely overrun with tourists (as we've felt in some parts of Rome, Venice, Florence). Highly recommend the Grand Universe Lucca, and we'd return the next time we are in Tuscany.
