A couple of things:
1) Updates like this may take a little time to get through the system. If they say the airport won't reopen till Oct 7th, I'd believe them. You may need to call or wait until the changes filter through the entire system.
2) Even if the airport is open, with the pics starting to come out of the Fort Myers area, you may want to consider whether or not you really need/want to go there next week. E.g., if it's just for a vacation, it might be best to take advantage of any waivers and cancel.
