Apologies to hijack the thread with my own question but you mentioned something I’ve been concerned about.
I fly to CDG and then the following day I fly to MNL on a different airline (Oman). If my bag doesn’t make it to CDG would they courier it to MNL? God knows what I’d do otherwise
QANTAS left my (three) bags in Sydney in June when they didn't make a connecting flight, and they didn't make it with us to Honolulu. We only had a day there, but their contract baggage people there had no issue sending them on to Alabama via United when they arrived the next morning even though I was on a separate ticket on a separate airline. They actually beat me home.
