The issue could be the increased traffic through the J cabin which i would not enjoy. Agree that a couple of cheap snacks is not a major issue and self-upgrading is.
They are on the 200LRs and two class 300ERs from memory. With the LRs, I don’t think it’s a problem because the snack bars are located part the way down J class, and there’s a proper bulkhead. On the 300ERs, it’s right at the back of J, and there isn’t s proper bulkhead, so at boarding this is all visible to Y and there’s only a curtain separating.
This is from memory, and I could be wrong, as I haven’t been on either aircraft type since before COVID.
