No, Austrian doesn't get it right. It's a clown shadow of what is was just a few single digit years ago (although I have nothing against clowns). Their business service in Europe REALLY is what economy class got just 3 years ago, it's poor poor poor. The business food is rubbish, the service can be quite off (yes, sometimes it is ok, but I have been disappointed too many times) and the overall product is just not there. Lufthansa has ruined and destroyed this airline.
Ok, come on now. I agree definitely that the quality of airline catering is going down (though my very limited experience with Heimat was good, way better than say KL business), but you can't argue that OS J service is what Y was a couple of years ago. I've been flying OS around Europe with reasonable regularity (about once a year for starters, increasing in frequency as time went on, culminating at at least once a month) for about 10 years now and their Y service was nothing to write home about even then. Granted it was not BoB, but on food front it was "suesses oder salzes", a small Milka Tender in a Fokker is still a far cry from what they do now. And on drinks front, most you could wish for was a beer at least towards the end.
