Just tried to place an award ticket on hold with Singapore Airlines on the phone and they said they are no longer doing holds at all, not even for a fee. This change was made in August 2022. It doesn't say anywhere on the website that this change was made. Sucks
Feels like it's impossible to get lucky with awards tickets these days
Technically it did not say anywhere on the website that the agent is allowed to put the booking on hold for you either..(prior to this Aug22 'change')
