Again, it's YMMV but I think you know that already. Heck, there's DPs where people have booked directly w MGM, slept in room during the entire stay, and still unable to get nights posted correctly.

I’d agree with this, I’ve seen and talked to many people on here and IRL that haven’t been credited and they actually stayed on property, a few to MR’s.
I wonder what would happen if OP had to “chase down” the night credits. This is the scenario I see -
OP “checks out” (Ghost stay)
OP waits a week and nothing posts.
OP contacts both Hyatt and MGM who say to wait 30 days.
OP waits 30 days then contacts Hyatt and MGM again.
They reach back out and say we don’t see that you were on property at all, there’s no key swipes (regular or mobile), no notes from housekeeping, actually there’s a note here that the room was never even used.
OP responds - No I definitely used it, I just prefer to do housekeepings job for them so they know how to do it right for the future!
MGM/Hyatt - How did you get in the room? These no record of the Mobile Key being used and no printed key was ever made.
OP - Uhm….I climbed in the window. Wait no, Housekeeping let me in the room, yeah that’s what happened.
MGM/Hyatt - All 10 Nights…?
OP - Yeah, I got friendly with one of the maids if you know what I mean and we used her keycard.
MGM/Hyatt - Yeah this sounds like Fraud and Manipulation of our program terms, sorry but we are going to have to close your World of Hyatt Account. This is in our T&C’s, thank you for being a World of Hyatt Member.
I see either that or OP doesn’t chase it down and just takes the loss of $500ish.
At the end of the day it’s just money and if you’re not even staying what’s the real difference anyways?
Me personally I’d (at worst) Mobile Check in for a “ghost stay” then let my friend or family member go on a free trip to Vegas. Log them into the MGM app before they go and they’re all set. Otherwise I’d never do ghost just MR and even then I’d still be physically in Vegas for the entirety to go back to the room a few times.
That’s just me though. YMMV
