I regularly get hot meals on flights as short as Sarajevo/Belgrade/Pristina (lunch or dinner, rest is sandwiches, which are still pretty decent, though) and the pudding (whilst not particularly a fan of “chocolate-ish” stuff myself) is always top notch, not to mention the constant-excellent service from the crews and the reliability in terms of operations at their Vienna hub.
P.S.:
here are a few pictures of a variety of meals, I had posted them a few months back.
Now that the other decent alternative (i.e. LOT) is about to “disappear” for the winter, it is somewhat heartening to know that Austrian will still operate 2 daily flights from/to this part of the world.

No, Austrian doesn't get it right. It's a clown shadow of what is was just a few single digit years ago (although I have nothing against clowns). Their business service in Europe REALLY is what economy class got just 3 years ago, it's poor poor poor. The business food is rubbish, the service can be quite off (yes, sometimes it is ok, but I have been disappointed too many times) and the overall product is just not there. Lufthansa has ruined and destroyed this airline.
