The fact that the 1st segment is operated by a code-share partner (non ST) doesn't change anything. You will be no show as soon as the 1st flight will be closed and KL will know from that point as it will be in the PNR.
I have definitely seen issues on *A tickets where there were delays in communicating this type of information from one airline to another. But if that's not the case with WS to KL, then it would obviously be problematic for this idea.

Airline agents do stupid things all the time. If they didn't, terms like HUCA and MOLA wouldn't be so common on FT. Usually this is a negative for passengers, but sometimes it can work to one's benefit.
