I’ve been quite fortunate (and lucky) to have received a bunch of Amex Biz Plat or Gold targeted NLL cards in the past year and a half, 4 or 5 since this thread started in January. IIRC, I called to change the statement closing/billing date for each of them.
For the first of these cards I changed the billing date immediately upon receipt of the card which resulted in a much delayed SUB. I called a day after receiving the card to change the billing date, met the minimum spend (MS) a few days after calling. SUB did not post a few days after meeting MS (as usual for AmEx SUBs) nor did it post a day or 2 after receiving the first statement (as usual for some other issuers) nor did it post a day after paying the first statement balance in full (as usual for AmEx earned MR points). IIRC, the SUB did finally post a day or 2 after meeting the MS for the second time in the middle of the second billing cycle. (While waiting for the SUB to post I was given erroneous information by AmEx phone reps several times “it will post in 6-8 weeks”, “after your first statement”, “8-12 weeks”, “when Godot arrives”

.)
Lesson learned at that time:
change AmEx statement closing date ONLY after MS met and SUB posts.
Last 4-5 NLL Biz cards each received 2-3 days after approval, first statement closing date invariably different from my preferred date by 10-14 days. MS met within a few days of card receipt, SUB posted 1-2 days after meeting MS (happy camper

), called 1-2 days after SUB posted to change billing date.
Each time told that
AmEx cannot change to a billing date which would result in a shorter billing cycle.
Unsure if that applies only to the FIRST billing cycle. Each time it has resulted in a first billing cycle of about 40-50 days (instead of first statement as originally scheduled and then shorter second billing cycle). For each the last few cards except one, the new closing date has been accurately stated on the website within a few days of calling. The exception is a 6 week old Biz Gold for which the website still displays the original closing date. Best I can tell this also results in annual fee being posted a little later than expected.
