Of course, I'd agree. While Saver fares may not make sense for me, I can appreciate where it may for many others.
I would say there already is some benefit with having the saver fares that elites do benefit. The saver fares pricing and availability also translates in lower miles required for the flight. As such an elite can use miles for the flight and still benefit from an upgrade potential

The up charge per se from saver fare to standard fare for elites is increasing typically now $40 per flight for mod con from SEA to ORD.
