Just a reminder that once you pass the DOM->INTL boarding pass check near Gate 50, you can't go back to the public side and must use the sterile US Connections facility next to D Gate security.
Once past the additional security screening in the connections facility, there are Global Entry kiosks immediately after that you can use to get a GE receipt.
I never wanted to exit to landside
but I couldn't find a way to do what you described. is what you described accessible to everyone regardless of where your DOM plane land in YVR?
maybe I should have followed the INTL sign first, after landing in YVR. but I just keep following the US TB sign, so maybe that is why I inadvertently ended up at landside then have to enter back to airside again as if I am not a connecting pax
