Hi everyone. I'm hoping you can assist with what is turning out to be a total FF ticket debacle. We're flying JFK-MLE next year with four FF tickets, two in J, two in economy. The goal was to have the two adults in J and the children in economy. Qatar told me I have to split the adults up because otherwise it would be shown as unaccompanied minors. So I booked one adult and one child in J and the other adult and child in economy. I was told we could switch on the plane. When I called today to book children's meals, I was informed that would not be allowed to switch and so currently my husband and 11 year old are in business and I'm in economy.
I called the help desk today and they said they can't do anything about it even though I was just following instructions. Does anyone have any ideas or perhaps has faced a similar situation? I'm shocked they won't assist and don't know what to do.

You were misinformed when you bought the tickets. Airlines won't generally allow children to sit unaccompanied in a different cabin. So you won't be able to switch unless your kids can pass as adults.
If you had known this, would you have booked all four in economy or would you still have split it up so at least two could sit in business?
