But the way luggage is “handled” can mean the kinds of PSI pressure that far exceed what happens from a typical fall of a key chain AirTag hitting the ground.
Just got back from our first flights last night. The Airtags survived. And if they break, it is only $25 each pretty much disposable. Our Rimowa (full check in size ones) are very beat up over the years. The wheels have been broken many times and fixed. I think next time they break it would be out of warranty and will have to pay for the fix ourselves. I am thinking inside the thick luggage tag should be more safe than the exposed wheels.
The tags are cool. We can see that they arrive at the airports of each of our legs. The first time my kid checks (The tags are on his iPhone since I have Android) as soon as we landed and he said "oh no they are left behind 1100 miles"! I told him to check again after we get to the baggage claim and when they start to unload the luggage. Sure enough, our new family members on the "Find My" showed up.
