Unless you bought a full fare AUD$700 SYD-MEL (HIGHLY unlikely) the chances are your booking is in some discounted economy. Almost ALL discounted economy on QF earns 50% credit. BUT, if you got their red-e-deals or similarly deeply discounted ticket, you will get none.

From my personal experience, I don't think your ticket will accure miles
