If you can check in to your new flight on AA then it's all fine, this is a transaction change on SABRE rather than Amadeus so it may be that BA can't control this area much anyway. If you still have a ticket number showing on the BA app then I'd personally not bother to call, but if you are concerned then it's best to call.
