There are separate help areas for people who need rebooking, etc. and in fact in those situations I find the 1K desk (call in) quicker and better able to help me than the service desk team at the airport.
I am really confused by your post as to my understanding of a checkin agent.
I've been at airports where some one tagging their bag will have problems and take up 30-40 minutes with an agent. Some airports don't separate 'those with ticketing problems' vs 'those dropping bags'
I wish they did.
Secondly--I didn't know LAS had baggage porter outside terminal. Will have to check that out next time I go.
