Had a free night expiring, and never stayed here before, so I tacked on another 10K points and spent last night here.

I guess the one word to describe this stay was "solid". As a Gold, we weren't upgraded to any better class of room; we did get one on the 18th floor, but without much of a view to speak of. Service was great, amenities were fine. My biggest complaint was the spotty Wi-Fi, which often caused my Amazon Fire videos to buffer. Also worth noting that this hotel is very nearby a major train station, and even from in the room you could hear the muffled sounds of passing trains all of the time.

Since I probably wasn't ever coming back here, I really wanted to try the Executive Lounge, so I paid the 16000 yen fee for two persons with Bonvoy points (250 points per USD, and with the yen at 24 year lows, seemed like a decent enough use for them). Lounge was fairly small, but on the 26th floor it did offer a nice view of Tokyo Bay in the distance. Off hours offerings were basic drinks and snacks, but I was happy with the cocktail time, which was definitely meal worthy with salad and a few hot offerings, favorites being the breaded tuna cutlets and butter chicken curry with naan. I gorged myself on tons of fresh blueberries and flavored popcorn with my gin and tonics, and had a rather pleasant time. It's written that you are only allowed 60 minutes in the lounge during cocktail time, but the place never hit 100% capacity, so I managed to stay the entire time from 17:00 to 19:30 without getting kicked out.

Since there is no breakfast in the lounge, you are allowed breakfast in the restaurant (actually, you can subtract 3000 yen per person from the lounge fee if you wish to forego breakfast). This was very nice, reminding me of a slightly enhanced version of the Tokyo Courtyard restaurant offering. Eggs benedict was tasty, the pastries were quite good, and a rather bountiful selection of salad and fruits to choose from, including the aforementioned blueberries.

Access to Shinagawa station by foot is a bit inconvenient, but there's a free bus that goes to and from it fairly frequently. The surrounding gardens in the area are quite pleasant to walk through, if constant train noises don't bother you.

If I were at a status that allowed me free lounge access, would definitely go more often.
