I was not aware using a service that is made available to me as a Premier member is a DYKWIA moment.
I am bemused by your responses and feeling somewhat chastised by you for using services made available to me by United. In another DYKWIA moment when United offers me Plus Points upgrades I take them as well and these too are not available to 95% of people well with the extensions of status perhaps the percentage is lower but most of my friends who are infrequent travelers are not able to use PlusPoints. I realize this last comment is off topic of the original post but I felt a need to address the DYKWIA comment.
Some people need/want assistance with their bags. I recently witnessed an elderly, visually-impaired couple, trying to check-in at a kiosk. They couldn't get any assistance and were standing by the kiosk looking lost when a young pax offered to help them. He helped them check-in and attached their bag tags, and took their bags to the drop-off. This couple, it turns out, were flying in F and expected better service. They were pretty negative on UA after their experience.
