Unusual one yesterday. EWR->CVG

Day before, I was #5 on the list. 7 taken, 2 blocked.
I wasn't really expecting to make it. Scheduled flights reduced due to EWR runway construction. And apparently the last flight on Thursday cancelled as well.

Hour before boarding, showed cabin full. Seat map showed full. I remained #5 on the waitlist.
10 minutes before boarding, got a text that I was upgraded and assigned my seat.

No clue what happened on this one.
